First Sight of Sun by Kayla Gornick

$8.50

Since becoming a vampire, Beatrice has avoided the first sight of the sun. That’s until Montana, a new werewolf in town, became determined to bring light back into her undead life. Beatrice Caswell is enjoying her quiet vampire unlife, when freshly turned werewolf, Vic Montana, shows up at her door uninvited. Caswell reluctantly agrees to help Montana adjust to her new life, despite their noticeable differences. Caswell is prissy and traditional. Montana is easygoing and very much atypical. She even turns into a puppy instead of a wolf. While their friendship is slowly growing, they’re discovered by local preteens. Caswell slowly realizes she’s got a crush on her werewolf compatriot. She admits this to the kids, who start setting up romantic scenarios to get the monster couple together. But Montana has bigger fish to fry, and things don’t get easier when Brick turns up. He's the werewolf who turned Montana in the first place, and he hates vampires. With supernatural bad luck, a host of local oddballs, and ancient monster feuds on top of the regular relationship troubles, it’s going to take a powerful kind of love for their special romance to survive.

"Sandra de Helen's new poetry cookbook, I Eat My Words, is a groundbreaking hybrid collection, executed with creativity, skill, and humor. In this romp through the worlds of poetry and mouth-watering recipes, the author has created a book that is practical, pleasing to the poetic sensibility, and downright fun to read." Sandra Anfang, poet, visual artist, and author of poetry collections Looking Glass Heart; Road Worrier: Poems of the Inner and Outer Landscape; and Xylem Highway "I Eat My Words is Sandra de Helen's love letter to every reader who enjoys preparing and eating good food and finds sustenance in well written poetry. The concept of alternating recipes with poems is delightfully satisfying as well as sensorially appealing. The only request I would ask of the publisher is to place a warning label on this collection's cover" DO NOT SHELVE THIS BOOK WITH YOUR OTHERS! KEEP IT CLOSE TO YOUR KITCHEN!" Renée Bess, author of five novels and Between a Rock and a Soft Place, a collection of her poems, short stories, and essays "[Sandra] de Helen's clever blend of poems and recipes invites the reader to the kitchen to reminisce about the comforts of food and the people we love to share it with. Cherie Gough, freelance journalist specializing in food and the people who make its journey to the table possible.
